Tracking EMS skills sign-offs with the NREMT skill sheets
October 11, 2026
The National Registry publishes psychomotor skill sheets for each level: patient assessment, airway, bleeding control, cardiac arrest management and the rest. Most programs use them in lab long before the exam. Keeping track of who passed what, and when, is where the paper piles up.
Record every attempt, not just the pass
A pass after five tries tells you something different from a pass on the first. Record each attempt as pass or needs work, with the evaluator and the date. It shows which students need more lab time and which skills your class struggles with.
Use the current sheets
Download the current sheets for your level from the National Registry and retire old copies. Students should practice against the same critical criteria they'll be tested on.
Let students see their own progress
Students who can see which skills are signed off schedule their own practice. It also ends the "I thought I passed that one" conversation.
How FlagshipEMS helps
Each cohort starts with the NREMT skills for its level, instructors and preceptors record every attempt, skill sheets print from the app, and students see what's signed off and when they're ready to test. See software for EMS instructors.
